About Michael
My name is Michael Johnson. I am a fitness industry professional with 5 years of experience serving as a wellness director, coordinator, group exercise instructor, and personal trainer. I graduated from the University of Alabama, earning a bachelor’s degree in communication and business.
My passion for strength training began at a young age through sport; football. Blessed with coaches and mentors who instructed me on proper lifting technique and training habits, I took up self studying strength training.
I hold a personal training certification through the National Association of Sports Medicine (NASM). I aim to acquire my Strength and Conditioning Specialist Certification through the National Association of Strength and Conditioning (NASC).
I am a competitive power lifter, having competed twice. Placing first, and second. My coach and mentor, Chris Lentini, resides in the Birmingham, Alabama, suburb of Irondale.
I believe in strength training and lifestyle transformation, and have seen and experienced first hand what it can do for people who commit to the pursuit of it.
My mission is to build stronger humans across the nation and around the world, and give as many people the opportunity to grow stronger, transform their lifestyle, and live happier, healthier, longer lives.
The Core Method Strength Training Philosophy
There are no promises, only progress. Progress varies on your level of effort and commitment. There are no shortcuts, or excuses. If you can't do something, then we will find a way to do it. If you can't at all, then we do something else. We do the work. Always.
Our training is built around performing the core lifts: squat, bench press, overhead press, and deadlift. We break these lifts down into the movement groups of pushing, pulling, and hinging which opens a world of exercise we can perform. We practice these exercises frequently and repeatedly to drive intensity, focusing on form and technique to ensure safety and progress is made.
Functional movements such as plank variations and loaded carries are added to improve stability and core strength. Single leg, unilateral, and cardio and conditioning are implemented too. They are a fantastic way to build a well-rounded training program and improve overall work capacity.
